Area Residents Turn Out For Tree Of Light Program

BRIDGEPORT—Hundreds of residents from 11 southern Connecticut cities and towns joined together December 10 to help light up the night in remembrance of lost loved ones as part of the Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut’s 19th Annual Tree Of Light program.  Participants made tribute donations to dedicate light on the Tree Of Light in honor of loved ones they have lost and attend nondenominational ceremonies held in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Huntington/Shelton, Milford, Monroe, Oxford, Southport, Stratford, Trumbull and Westport.  About 800 special lives were honored at this year’s events.  The $31,349 raised from the Tree Of Light event will be used to help VNS of Connecticut underwrite Hospice at Home™ services for terminally ill patients and their families who do not have the means to pay for those services.  The 2009 Tree Of Light program sponsors were Elizabeth M.
