VNS Tree Of Light Set For December
BRIDGEPORT—Residents of southern Connecticut are invited to help light up the night in remembrance of lost loved ones in 11 cities and towns serving as sites for Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut’s 19th Annual Tree Of Light program. Participants can purchase one of three different colored lights to adorn the trees and attend a non-denominational ceremony at any of the Tree Of Light remembrance ceremonies to be held in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Huntington/Shelton, Milford, Monroe, Oxford Southport, Stratford, Trumbull and Westport. Typically, the Tree Of Light events attract hundreds of area residents who take the opportunity to honor lost friends and relatives during the holiday season. Proceeds from the Tree Of Light event are used to underwrite services provided by VNS of Connecticut’s Hospice at Home™ program for terminally ill patients who do not have the means to pay for those services themselves. The 2009 Tree Of Light program sponsors are Elizabeth M. Pfriem, Title Sponsor; GE, Presenting Sponsor; Bridgeport Hospital and NewAlliance foundations as well as Beardsley, Brown & Bassett, Supporting Sponsors; Eitzen Chemical USA-Westport, Town Sponsor; Acme Printing and Farrell Marketing & Design, Media Sponsors. All of the Tree Of Light ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the exception of the 6 p.m. Southport event, on December 10. To learn more about participating in the program, contact Lila Grimes, Development Associate, 203.366.3821, X1111, or send an email to TreeOfLight@vnsct.org.
