2007 VNS Clambake Sets Fundraising Records

BRIDGEPORT—It was a record-setting evening June 13 when Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut held its sixth annual Clambake fundraiser at the Milford Yacht Club. New standards were for paid attendees, number of donations and total net proceeds. Former Fairfield First Selectman Jackie Durrell served as Honorary Chair, while UBS was the Presenting Sponsor.

VNS of Connecticut Development Director Brinda Pola reported that 124 area individuals attended the event, taking a chance on 18 raffle prizes and 20 silent auction items to raise $23,800 in net proceeds for VNS’s Hospice at Home™ and Medically Underserved programs. The Clambake also featured cocktails, lobster, steak or salmon dinners and a great deal of camaraderie.

“We are very thankful for all the support we received to make this year’s event an astounding Success,” said Karen Mercer of Trumbull, the Clambake’s Chair. “The generosity of our business and Community friends will greatly benefit patients and families served by two very important VNS programs.”

VNS of Connecticut is one of the state’s largest home health care providers, serving residents of Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties. The agency has offices in Norwalk, Bridgeport, Trumbull, Oxford and Torrington. It is a private, non-profit organization which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2009.
